Synoyms

अनंता- Durva spreads extensively on the ground.
प्रतनिका- Durva grows extensively and spread.
रुहा- When cut grown again.
गोलोमी- Durva has liner leaves which resemble cows hair.
शतपर्विका- Durva has many nodes.
शतवीर्या- Durva is very efficacious drug and has many actions.

Prostrate, widely creeping herb

Habitat

Durva grows throughout India, usually found in waste lands, road rides, gardens and parks.

Morphology

  • Stem - Slender and creeping with erect or ascending flowering branches 7-30 cm long.
  • Leaves- 2-10 cm long, narrowly linear, tip acute.
  • Flowers- spikelets are 1.5-2.5mm long.
  • Fruits- grains in 1mm long.

Chemical Composition

Whole plant contains carotene, Palmitic acid and triterpenoides.
