Habit

Perennial, tall, tufted grass.

Habitat

Grows wildly in tropical and subtropical regions of India. Found in riverbanks, wastelands, and grasslands.

Morphology

  • Tall, erect, tufted grass growing up to 2–4 meters.
  • Leaves: Long, narrow, linear, with sharp margins.
  • Flowers: Silky white, in large terminal panicles resembling plumes.
  • Rhizomatous root system enabling rapid spread.
  • Often forms dense colonies.
